Openwave Unified Intranet and Extranet

Challenge: Openwave hired us to create a unified user experience across its more than 40 intranet and extranet sites — including a sales management portal — to increase employee self-service capabilities and efficiency.

  • Key User Needs: Our team conducted end-user and stakeholder research to identify and prioritize key user needs that would shape the redesign, finding and retrieving tools, forms, and files from more than 40 disparate department sites.

  • Common Information Architecture: To create a centrally accessible information hub that was dynamic enough to support the many extranet variations, our team created a common information architecture and navigation scheme that became the base interaction model.

  • Wireframes: To obtain input and buy-in from all key Openwave stakeholders, we employed an iterative wireframing and information-mapping process. This approach enabled the team to unify Openwave’s network of intranet/extranet sites.

  • Sales Portal: In addition to establishing a unified technical, architectural, and content framework, our team created for Openwave a sales portal that enabled users to quickly access business-critical data and key product information through customizable dashboard views.

  • Style Guides and Templates: As we worked with the various Openwave marketing and engineering teams, we created style guides and templates to aid their implementation of the new intranet/extranet designs.

Solution

The final solution was a unified intranet and extranet system supporting over 2000 employees.
